When Shakira was diagnosed with pyometra, an infection of the uterus, her family had no idea how they would afford her care. They had just lost their other dog to cancer, and were worried sick they would lose Shakira too if they did not quickly find assistance for her emergency surgery. FACE was contacted to help Shakira and her family by our hospital partner Plaza Blvd Vet Hospital. Thanks to the advocacy of our many hospital partners, pets like Shakira do not have to suffer when their families cannot afford their emergency care!
