This gorgeous German Shepherd pup is “Hero!” Hero was only a year and a half when he dug out of his yard and was hit by a car. He suffered from a painful laceration that needed immediate attention or might become infected; his young life was in danger. Hero’s family panicked as soon as they heard the news. Hero’s family had just welcomed a newborn baby and they were struggling with one income while his human mom was on maternity leave. A family member was nice enough to let them rent out a room at her house but they were still very much in financial hardship during this time. They had no way of paying for this unexpected cost. Luckily, Save-A-Life partner VCA Animal Medical Center of El Cajon told them to apply for FACE funding and to their relief, they were approved for a grant!
