San Diego Humane Society Introduces New Lost Pet Resource

Did you know that 1 in 3 pets will become lost at some point during their lives? The San Diego Humane Society alone takes in around 19,000 stray pets per year, and only 22% are reunited with their families.

To help increase the number of found pets, our friends at San Diego Humane recently introduced a new program called Lost2Found. Lost2Found is a cell phone texting program that helps pet owners search for their missing pets.

It’s a one-way communication system that texts tips and support to people searching for their lost pets. Besides how-tos on the best ways to locate a lost pet, participants are also directed to the websites of San Diego Humane and other partner organizations that work to reunite lost pets with their owners.

San Diego residents can text “LOST” to 858-SAN-LOST (726-5678) to begin using the Lost2Found system. To learn more about how to find lost pets, check out the lost and found section of San Diego Humane’s website.
