AVMA YouTube Channel Adds New Videos on Pet Dental Health

Yep, it’s Pet Dental Health Month again…a time for all pet owners to remember that their pets’ teeth need attention. Whether that’s at-home care or a dental at the vet’s office, the American Veterinary Medical Association has you covered!

The AVMA has posted 2 new videos to their YouTube channel, designed to educate pet owners on the importance of dental health.

The first, Home Dental Care for Your Pet, explains why dental health is so important and shows pet owners how to care for their pets’ teeth in between veterinary appointments. You’ll learn how to get your dogs and cats used to a regular tooth-brushing routine.

The second video is called Pet Dental Cleanings: What to Expect. You will go behind the scenes at a veterinary clinic for a firsthand look at in-office dental procedures. They also explain the unique dental needs of animals.

How do you know it’s time to take your pet to the vet for a dental? Common signs of tooth and gum problems include bad breath, difficulty eating, discolored teeth, swollen or bleeding gums, drooling, and pawing at the mouth.

Left untreated, periodontal disease can be a life-threatening veterinary health problem.
