This cute pup is a 7-year-old Shih Tzu named Knuckles!

Knuckles had been experiencing weakness in his hind legs and was also acting less energetic than usual. He got some pain meds from his family vet but unfortunately, a few days later he was dragging his rear legs, which had become paralyzed.

His mom rushed him to our friends and partners at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Marcos, CA where he was diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

Knuckles’ mom is disabled and on a fixed income and could not afford the full cost of his critical surgery. VSH referred her to FACE and with the help of a grant, Knuckles was able to get his needed spinal surgery and is now doing well!
