Brooklyn: 14-year-old Chihuahua mix
Diagnosis: splenic mass
Procedure: splenectomy
Tiny but mighty, Brooklyn has been the light of her family’s life. Adopted from the local humane society, she was welcomed with open arms and quickly became the heart of the household. One day, the family's joy turned to fear after an unexpected vet visit revealed a mass on Brooklyn’s spleen. Immediate surgery was required to save her. With only one adult working and the family relying on government assistance, the cost of care was out of reach. The thought of losing their beloved companion simply because they couldn’t afford the treatment was devastating — a burden no loving family should ever have to bear.
But happy days were ahead, as the family found FACE in the nick of time, and Brooklyn was able to get her life-saving surgery. More tail wagging and tummy rubs are in her future.
Many thanks to our veterinary partner: Shadowridge Veterinary Hospital, Vista (CA)
From Brooklyn's family post surgery:
“Brooklyn had her splenectomy and she's home and doing well. Brooklyn means the world to me and without your assistance and the skills and generosity of Dr. Schiebert and Shadowridge Veterinary Hospital’s help, none of this would have been possible. I'm so eternally grateful and I just wanted to update you on Brooklyn status. Thank you again. I so much appreciate it!”
