“Critter Fixers” Vets Join Pet Obesity Prevention Campaign
Drs. Vernard Hodges and Terrence Ferguson of Nat Geo Wild’s popular “Critter Fixers: Country Vets” show have teamed up with the Hill’s pet food company on a new “End Pet Obesity” campaign.
The campaign includes a simple test called “L.O.V.E.” that pet owners can perform to determine if their pets are overweight.
L: Locate the pet’s ribs.
O: Observe from above.
V: View from the side.
E: Evaluate feeding behavior.
The vets note that it can be hard for us to determine if pets, especially furry ones, have gained a few extra pounds. They recommend that pet owners consult with their veterinarians about what their pet’s ideal weight should be and how to reach that goal if the pet is overweight.
